Jesus is the Lamb of God who was slain.
"Then I saw standing in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and the elders, a Lamb, that seemed to have been slain. He had seven horns and seven eyes; these are the seven spirits of God sent out into the whole world." Revelation 5:6
Jesus suffered the Agony of the Garden of Gethsemane, the Scourging at the Pillar, the Crowning of Thorns, the Carrying of the Cross and the Crucifixion. He was led forth like a lamb to be slaughtered.
Why did Jesus endure such suffering?
He did it for you and for me. He loves us so much, He endured every kind of unbearable suffering, torture and abandonment by His friends, Born of the Virgin Mary, the Lamb was seized from the flock and dragged off to be crucified on a Cross. He did it for us. He loves us so much! Jesus came for our salvation, to take away the sins of the world.
"I looked gain and heard the voices of many angels who surrounded the Throne and the living creatures and the elders. They were countless in number, and they cried out in a loud voice: 'Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and blessings.'" Revelation 5:11-12
Have you ever wondered if God hears your prayers?
Revelation 5 reveals to us that prayer reaches the Throne of God. The Lord hears all our prayers. He sees and hears every cry of prayer throughout the whole world. God set us apart to be holy. The prayers of God's people rise up to the Throne of God and to the Lamb. Never give up praying for the living and the dead. Turn to Jesus continually. He will hear your prayers and He will always answer them in His own perfect timing.
"Lord, I call to Your; hasten to me; listen to my plea when I call. Let my prayer be incense before You; my uplifted hands an evening offering. Psalm 141:1-2
Jesus is the Lamb of God who was slain. Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
