"In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent His only Son into the world so that we might have life through Him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is brought to perfection in us. This is how we know that we remain in Him and He in us, that He has given us of His Spirit. Moreover, we have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as Savior of the world. Whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in Him and He in God. We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in Him." 1 John 4:9-16
Meditation:
Find a quiet place, be still and ask the Holy Spirit to come into your heart. Ponder this image of Mary gazing at the Face of Jesus and holding Him tenderly. Imagine the love between Mother and Holy Child. Now ask the Holy Spirit to be with you and place yourself in Mary's arms. Feel the tenderness of her embrace. Listen as Mary speaks to you words of love. Allow her love to wash over you and console you. As you receive her love, she will draw you to Jesus who is Love and Mercy. As your time of stillness comes to a close, ask Mary to teach you how to stay close to the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Mary dwells there with them. In the school of Mary, she will teach you how to love as she loves, how to ponder as she ponders and to how to trust as she trusts in the Goodness of God. Offer a prayer of thanksgiving to God for this special time of gazing at the Face of Jesus with Mary.
"Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your Holy Will which is Love and Mercy itself." Closing Prayer of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy
